Looking For Cell Phone Family Tips?
|
|
Teenagers today are very different than their counterparts just a generation ago. They are getting part time jobs and also spending more time at home alone as most households consist of two parents who work full time. Making sure your child is able to contact you at a moment’s notice is very important. That’s where a cell phone family plan fits in.
Anyone who has ever signed a contract for a cellular phone knows that you really need to be aware of all the small charges that can quickly add up. If you happen to go over the allotted minutes per month you’ll end up paying a small fortune. The same is true if you make calls outside of your free minute window which normally runs during the evenings and weekends. When several members of the same family are all using cell phones the extras can result in a few hundred dollars a month. With a cell phone family plan you will save quite a bit of money and still enjoy the same services.
The details of individual plans vary depending on the service provider. Some offer plans for unlimited family members while others have strict restrictions in place regarding who can be included in your cell phone family plan. For the most part you’ll want to include your partner and your children if they are old enough to use a cell phone. If you have an elderly parent living with you consider adding them to your cell phone family plan. Although a senior may not find the idea of a cell phone appealing it’s a good idea for them to carry one in case of emergency.
Free phones are also included with some plans. If you are just introducing your teenage children to the responsibility of carrying a cell phone this is a great and cost efficient way of getting a phone for them. In most cases you’ll need to sign a two or three-year contract to get a free phone. Although this may seem a bit daunting it’s important to remember that the price of almost everything increases over time and if you can secure a low cost monthly rate with a cell phone family plan, you should.
Before signing any agreements do your research. Compare the pros and cons of several different providers and choose the cell phone family plan that offers the most minutes for the lowest cost. Then be sure to explain to your children that although you want them to use the phone to stay in touch with you that it’s not to be used to call their friends. That’s what a home phone is for.
